I hope you have a HAPPY VALENTINES too!
This week was really good, we taught allot, and found some pretty sweet familias from the English classes we are doing. Ya I read in the ensign that the big focus was on bringing back less active members. There are focusing on that here too. we have to pass by like 10 different names every week to teach this document that called permanaced... which pretty much tells them to come back or they are screwed. It’s a really inspired document though, I love teaching it. I read a talk recently called 4th missionary. I wish I would have read it at the beginning of my mission, but I guess there is a reason I read it now. It is amazing, and it changed my life... Seriously, Brigham and Caleb have to read it before they go on their missions. I’m going to give it to some young men that are going from this ward soon. It talks about following the will of god and that how, even if we do the things that lead to happiness and if we obey the commandments, we will never be blessed or happy if we don’t WANT to do them. We can live a way good righteous life but we will be secretly uncomfortable fighting within our own minds because we would rather be doing something else. Those are the missionaries that go on missions they sacrifice a ton, and they baptize a lot of people. But their own personal lives will never be changes because there just waiting for the moment when they can do what THEY want to do. I’m seriously so glad I’m on the mission, it seriously the best thing that I could have ever done. I feel soooo bad for anyone that never takes that choice. It’s like the greatest blessing in the world. I have learned so much about life, and about what is important, and how to listen to the spirit and how to draw upon the powers of heaven. I still feel like I have a TON to learn but seriously I’m so glad I’m here. I know I’m going to end the mission, but hopefully I will have learned everything that god wants me to learn. I honestly want to follow his will my whole life. Our president told us that he KNEW that we were going to be the leaders of the church in the final preparation for the second coming. The only thing that god will never have unless we ourselves give it to him is our WILL.
I have to start applying to schools... I don’t know what to do. Mom please help me, I think you have all the information and my grades and credits and stuff to Dixie state. I think I want to transfer to start school in January. I want to apply though to like BYU, Dixie state, Arizona State, maybe SUU. The deadline is OCT 1, but I don’t want to rush it. Could you look up some stuff to help me?
Nothing happened in the earthquake, I didn’t feel it... That’s so awesome that Jimmer is the number one scorer in the nation. He must be way tight. That’s tight Brigham that you will be running varsity. I hope you feel better; did you wake up from your surgery hurting pretty bad? And I hope you make the basketball team, keep working out hard so that you can be an awesome football player. Chileans eat a lot of things called empanadas. They have emenadas with cheese, with pino it’s called. Meat and eggs and onions. And soapapillas they are like scone type of things that they sell in the street. They have this dish called pastel de choclo. It’s with meat and corn and stuff. They don’t drink hardly ever water. They are obsessed with coke. There is this drink that they sell in the street too called mote con huesillos. It’s a drink with a peach in it with wheat. They love soccer but aren’t very good at it. The people from the south are way nice and supposedly it’s beautiful down there. The north is all desert. Chile is like the number one miner of cobre. I forgot how you say that in English. Everyone walks around with their phone playing this music called regaton, that like this rap stuff.... They talk really different than any other country. They hate Peru and Argentina. There are a lot of Peruvians here.
Well mom and dad and Brigham and Caleb I love you, have a good week!
Love Elder Whitney
